“My Favorite” — Autumn Dessert: Baked Apple with Rinshu Ume

「私のお気に入り」秋のスイーツ「焼きりんご」に林州の梅の実を添えて

Hello everyone,
I’m Ishibashi from Choya Kyoto.

With the hot summer finally behind us, the season is becoming much more pleasant.

Today, I’d like to share an autumn dessert recipe: Baked Apple with Rinshu, our Ume of the Month from Nara Prefecture.

This lightly sweetened baked apple, made with ume syrup, makes for a refreshing finish after meat dishes and more. It’s surprisingly easy to prepare, so I encourage you to give it a try.

【レシピ】(Cooking time: 15 minutes)

  • 1 tbsp ume syrup
  • 1  infused  ume
  • 10g butter
  • 1/4 apple

1.Slice the apple into 1cm pieces. Remove the pit from the  infused  ume and chop finely.

2.Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Grill the apple slices on both sides until lightly browned.

3.Plate the apple with the  infused  ume, then drizzle with Rinshu syrup.
Tip: Sprinkle with cinnamon powder for extra flavor.

Pairing Suggestion: A Shot of Aged Umeshu

For dessert, enjoy a small glass of umeshu straight. Especially with long-aged umeshu, the concentrated sweetness and umami of ume—reminiscent of dried fruit—spread across the palate, offering a rich and elegant finish to the meal.
