Tsuyu Akane

Tsuyu Akane was registered as a variety in 2009 after 16 years of research and development. A combination of Japanese plum and plum, this beautiful plum has even the flesh turning red.

However, since the trees are thin and the fruit grows too thin, it weakens and is extremely difficult to cultivate, so only a small amount is shipped each year.

It is a plum that is not sour, and even the flesh turns red when ripe. It is characterized by its bright red color and creamy taste.

Origin of Akane: Minabe Town, Wakayama Prefecture

The Minabe/Tanabe region in the southwestern part of the Kii Peninsula is the largest producer of plums in Japan. 50% of the plums grown in Japan are harvested here. The historic plum production system, which has been improved since the Edo period, has been selected as a World Agricultural Heritage Site.
