Orihime is grown only in Gunma Prefecture.
Ome is a variety that is often used for crunchy plums, and ripe plums are often used for pickled plums and plum juice. Because they are small plums, they grow into trees in large numbers, and are usually harvested by pounding the branches and dropping the fruit, but the ones sent to Choya are harvested by hand to avoid any damage.

Among the Koume varieties, the flesh is thick and large, and it has a fruity aroma reminiscent of peach or cherry blossoms.

Gunma Prefecture is the second largest producer of plums in Japan. The well-drained sandy soil deposited by the eruption of Mt. Asama is suitable for growing plums, and even the trees, which are several decades old, are still producing fruit vigorously. As you walk through the plum grove, the soil becomes soft and fluffy, and you can feel the energy of the plum blossoms beneath your feet.
