Perfect for Hot Summer Days ♪ “Milk Ume Sherbet”

I’m Yashima, the ume concierge at our Kamakura store.

Summer festivals, fireworks, and many other seasonal events make this time of year exciting. To help you enjoy that feeling of anticipation even in the heat, I’d like to share a recipe for a cool and refreshing dessert: Milk Ume Sherbet.

This dessert combines the pleasant tartness of ume with the mellow richness of milk for a truly exquisite taste!

[Recipe] (Serves 2 / about 10 minutes, excluding freezing time )

  • 60ml ume syrup
  • 100ml milk
  • 5g condensed milk
  • 1 pickled ume (optional)

    1.Remove the seed from the pickled ume and chop finely. Mix ume syrup, milk, and condensed milk together, then pour into a ziplock bag. Flatten the mixture and place it in the freezer.

    2. After 1 hour, knead the bag gently to soften the mixture, then return it to the freezer.

    3.Freeze for about 3 hours. Crush into bite-sized pieces, serve in a bowl, and top with chopped pickled ume if desired for an extra burst of flavor.

    Depending on the variety of ume you use, the flavor will change—so be sure to try it with your own original syrup!
